Noaa Jason 2 Satellite Data Now Available To Scientists

Noaa

NOAA announced that scientists from around the world now have access to valuable data from a new international satellite, the area Jason-2/Ocean Topography Mission. Jason-2/OSTM, launched on June 20 2008, is a joint effort between NOAA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Center Francesca dEtudes Spatiales (CNES) and European Organization for the exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). This information allows them to watch closely the rate of global sea level rise and monitor the changing ocean around tropical cyclones. After five months of calibration and validation an international team of scientists, including representatives of NOAA, said almost in real time Jason-2 data were ready for public distribution.
